AwfulTown was created for LudumDare40 where the direction was making a game about having too much of something. So we made a game about a little town that has too many problems! And the only way to solve it is controlled demolition.

The goal of the game is to keep the town alive as long as possible (it will inevitably crumble due to sickness, fire, or rioting) To prolong the town’s existence you must either use the professionals (firefighters, police, doctors) generated by your specialty buildings (firehouses, police stations, hospitals) to resolve the issues that will randomly strike the buildings in town. If you have no specialists on hand, the issue always has a chance of resolving itself, so you could let it play out and hope for the best. Or if you prefer to take more direct action, you can destroy the building yourself. This ensures that the problem won’t spread, but it does bring you closer to the inevitable destruction of your town!

Created a fully 3D modeled city, generated procedurally, including player camera controls. Created various VFX to represent the different ailments affecting each building. Recorded and implemented SFX for all events in game. Created a local highscore system so you can compete with your friends!
